“We can also become semiconductor power” EAM Jaishankar explains significance of PM Modi’s US visit

New Delhi, July 03 (ANI): EAM S Jaishankar on July 03 while interacting with students at NIT Delhi talked about PM Modi’s US visit. He explained how his visit will enhance India’s semiconductor industry and aims to boost India’s Semicon program. During his visit to the US, PM Modi held talks with President, CEO of Micron Technology Sanjay Mehrotra. Following this, on June 21 IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave a demo of the semi-conductor tech of Micron Technology. Further, on June 26 an MoU was signed between the Government of Gujarat and Micron Technology. During the US visit, PM Modi announced a USD 10 Billion Semicon India Program to catapult India into a global semiconductor chip manufacturing supply chain. The range of bilateral agreements signed indicates the depth of mutual understanding and strategic salience attached to India by the US. PM Modi’s visit to US is seen as fruitful as its aims to help India realize its dream of becoming a hub for electronic goods.
