New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal on July 23 informed that she is going to Manipur to visit the sexual assault survivors in the wake of shocking videos coming out from the state. Talking to ANI, Swati Maliwal said that she is going to take stock of the situation in Manipur.
“The sexual cases coming out from Manipur are terrifiying. Manipur Government first agreed to my demand to visit Manipur and meet the sexual assault survivors. Later, I received a letter from the government to postpone my visit in the wake of the law and order situation in the state. I am going to Manipur because there is a law and order problem,” said Swati Maliwal.
“Manipur CM is saying that there are hundreds of such incidents. Did the government reach out to the survivors and provided relief, in what kind of fear they are living, did they provide any counseling, legal aid, or compensation to the survivors? I want to go there to take stock of all these things and help them. The Manipur government suggested reconsidering my decision. I thought about it a lot and I have decided that I am going to Manipur,” said DCW Chairperson.
