India issues fresh travel advisory for citizens in Bangladesh amid fresh violence

New Delhi, August 05 (ANI): No respite in sight for PM Sheikh Hasina as fresh violence in Dhaka continued to rock Bangladesh. On August 04, a sea of protestors took to the streets and demonstrated against Sheikh Hasina Govt. The protestors are demanding PM Hasina’s resignation and justice for the victims killed in ‘Civil Unrest’. Protests turned ugly and resulted in claiming the lives of around 76 people including 13 Cops. Police fired tear gas and lobbied stun grenades to disperse protestors to maintain law and order. Amid the unrest, India’s MEA issued a fresh travel advisory for its citizens in Bangladesh. MEA ‘strongly advised’ Indians against travelling to Bangladesh and exercise extreme caution. Notably, it’s been weeks since scores of youth took to the Dhaka streets demanding the abrogation of job quota reservations in Bangladesh. The weeks-long demonstration has turned violent resulting in claiming the lives of around 200 people. The unrest is the biggest test since deadly protests erupted after Hasina won a fourth straight term in January. Earlier, Bangladesh govt reinstated 30 pc reservation for families of veterans of the 1971 war of independence from Pakistan. The youth protested against job quota which later spiralled into violence that killed at least 200 people.
